A Community for Video Game Collectors! Hot New Top Rising. Hot New Top. Posted by Mod.
July in Collector's Corner.
Hey guys, sort of a weird topic. I'm not normally one to bring in drama, but I was just curious of your guy's perspective on the subreddit. I actually started getting involved in the game collecting communities over there first, since it seemed a logical first step as the sub is one of the largest communities out there right now.
But for whatever reason, the community just seems downright toxic and hateful. There's a lot of fun going on there and plenty of great people, and while I still post there from time to time it seems there's a huge hivemind clique of collectors that seem to, ironically, absolutely hate collectors.
A few examples would be when a user mentions something like the value of an item, or worries about the conditions of the items, the community jumps on them, acting like they're being an elitist for not collecting in the way the sub does and makes snotty teenage comments about how the person shouldn't care basically, telling them how they collect is wrong. The sub is mostly garage sale collectors who don't seem to care much about quality, and seem to get extremely jealous when a collector can actually afford to collect.
I wish I could afford to buy large lots to save money in the long run by reselling the bits in the lot I didn't need! Anyways, I know the post is a bit vauge, I can cite some examples if you guys want me to dig them up.
I'm just curious if you guys have stumbled over there and have seen the behavior I have. It's actually what brought me to this awesome community, because I can freely chat about collecting without having to worry about some entitled teenager getting all upidy about my higher collecting standards.
July Here in Segaage a most friendly community of all i registered in On many russian collecting community is the same situation you described. Many people just want to show people how rich they are and get angry when someone is more rich In resent discussion one member of russian games collecting community says as a joke - to end this all let's just write only price you pay for the game, that would be enough.
Professor Gull. Hmm I rad some of the Reddit items and it seems more like a trading selling community run by stock brokers on the floor than something beneficial to the majority.
Sadly with the social stuff as it is there will always be trolls and troublemakers. Just out of curiosity though have you done trades and or buys through that?
I don't go to Reddit because I find the website as a whole pretty stupid-- along with Twitter and the like. Recently I hear the word "toxic" being tossed around a lot, and similar to a real life toxin, if you can't can't cure the toxin you instead remove yourself from the source.
I would stop going cold turkey if I didn't like it there much anymore. There are always other places to go on the internet, like here.
